About Maldives
The Republic of Maldives is an island country consisting of
Maldive and Suvadive group of atolls in the Indian Ocean
south of Lakshadweep group of islands of India and
about 700 kilometers South West of Sri Lanka.
The 26 atolls of Maldives encompass a territory featuring 1,192 islets,
roughly 200 of which are inhabited by people.
The capital of the Maldives is Male.
Dhivehi is the language spoken in all parts of the Maldives.
The Maldivian currency is the Rufiyaa and Laaree.
